On Friday, March 21st, 2025, Quantic Club in Bucharest will become the epicenter of an electrifying musical journey, a night destined to resonate deeply within the hearts of music lovers. Under the pulsating lights and vibrant energy, the legendary Romanian electronic pioneers Șuie Paparude will join forces with ROA (Rise Of Artificial), Baba Dochia, Barbu, and Freqkid, creating an unforgettable celebration of sound, emotion, and human connection.
Șuie Paparude – The Timeless Pioneers - The story of Șuie Paparude began in 1992, a time when Romania was hungry for new sounds and fresh ideas. Emerging from the underground scene with a daring blend of alternative-new-wave influences, the band quickly evolved into an iconic force. After several lineup changes, Michi and Dobrică infused the group with a powerful industrial vibe that set them apart from their contemporaries.
In 1995, their journey took a defining turn as they opened for international sensations 2 Unlimited. Shortly thereafter, DJ Vasile joined the team, and together they released their groundbreaking debut album. Over the following decades, Șuie Paparude became synonymous with innovation and passion. Their hits—such as "Moartea Boxelor," "Cea mai bună zi," and "Nu te mai saturi de noi"—captured the spirit of entire generations. Collaborations with artists like DJ Niky4, Bean, and especially Junkyard further enriched their sonic tapestry.
Junkyard (Cezar Stanciulescu), whose unmistakable vocal timbre and creative genius became integral to Șuie Paparude's identity, also expanded his artistic vision by co-founding ROA. Celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2022 and releasing the mesmerizing track "Mă Teleportez" in 2025, Șuie Paparude—today represented by Michi, Dobrică, and Junkyard—continue to electrify audiences with their timeless energy.
ROA – The Irresistible Rise - On a crisp November morning in 2010, Romanian radios began playing "Ne place," ROA's debut single. The track quickly became an anthem—dominating airwaves nationwide and amassing millions of views online. Behind this phenomenon stood two visionary artists: Bogdan Popoiag (UNU'), whose cinematic talent directed their captivating videos, and Junkyard himself, whose charismatic voice resonated deeply with fans from his tenure in Șuie Paparude.
Together they crafted tracks like "Sonata în La Minor," "D-aia," and "Flow de vara," each song becoming a beloved chapter in Romania's electronic scene. ROA's music is vibrant yet profound—an irresistible invitation to dance and dream simultaneously.
Baba Dochia – Cinematic Soundscapes - From Cluj-Napoca comes Baba Dochia—a band renowned for blending electronic pulses with post-punk intensity and post-rock atmospheres. With over a decade of captivating performances behind them, Baba Dochia has carved out a unique place on Romania's musical landscape. Their live shows are immersive experiences defined by analog synths and hypnotic visuals that transport listeners into cinematic worlds filled with emotion and intensity.
Their philosophy echoes through each note: "Music is supreme—it lifts us all up; it holds our hands like a loving mother." This sentiment will guide every heartbeat at Quantic—from the first note until sunrise.
Freqkid – Sonic Exploration - Adrian Andrei—known widely as Freqax—is the creative mind behind Freqkid. His experimental approach traverses genres effortlessly—from IDM to Funk, Jazz to Dubstep—always capturing raw human emotion within his soundscapes. Collaborations with artists like Silent Strike (notably remixing DJ Marika's "SWM"), Yazee Jay, Ana Coman, Hardplay, Zeyla Tomlyn, Makunochi Bento—and even Junkyard himself—highlight Adrian’s boundless creativity and versatility.
Freqkid's warm-up set promises an emotional journey that prepares hearts for what's yet to come.
Barbu – Dancing Until Dawn - As night deepens into dawn at Quantic Club on March 21st, Barbu will take control of the decks—guiding dancers through euphoric rhythms until sunrise paints Bucharest skies anew. His intuitive understanding of crowd dynamics ensures every soul remains connected through music long after stars fade away.
This event at Quantic Club is more than just another concert—it is an emotional reunion between artists who shaped Romania’s electronic music heritage alongside those who continue pushing its boundaries today. From pioneers like Șuie Paparude to innovators like ROA; from sonic explorers Baba Dochia to experimental visionaries Freqkid—all united under one roof—it promises nothing less than magic itself.
