QFest – Day II – FARA ZAHAR | TAPINARII | FOLK BROTHER

Tuesday, October 01, 2024
Public access: 19:00

What do we have here? A total blast with Fără Zaharăr, Tapinarii and, last but not least, the Folk quartet, Frate! And this is happening right on day 2 of QFest!

For the uninitiated, let's get to know these gentlemen:

Fara Zahar

The vocal-instrumental duet (Bobo and Bobi) of Dorohoian origin (Dorohoiască???) came into existence in 2001 and since then they have hit the country far and wide, throwing left and right with fine humor accompanied by a guitar ba acoustic, ba electric. They've stepped on our doorstep in Quantic before, and every time they've done it, it's been left with laughs and that feeling you get when you take a piece of chewing gum after a mouthful of slime. If you know them, it will be as you imagine; if you don't know them, well, you will then ????

The nomads

The two bonomis are the only band of two voices and one guitar (never more) that refused the Grammy and went against the trend of bands with a symphonic project. Adrian Tănase and Cosmin Covei found each other in the fateful year 2001 and laid the foundations of this alternative folk/pseudo-folk/unforgiving rock duo, bringing their melodic poesis to the ears of listeners across the nation. Another laugh of trouble, another serenade - you can definitely find something to resonate with in their repertoire.

Folk, Brother

The 4 who scared the folk are: Mircea Ungureanu (vocals, guitar), Tudor Olaru (vocals, bass), Ionuț Leopea (vocals), Sebastian Macovei (drums). The reason they scared the hell out of folk is that they infused it with tango, interwar romances, reggae, Balkan rhythms, r&b and just about anything else that crossed their creative minds. If you're looking for new folk sounds to accompany the genre's eternally honest lyrics, we recommend giving them a listen.
