The Terrace and the Amphitheater in the open air, the perfect location for The Rooftop Season, with Toulouse Lautrec playing live on September 11th, 2024
Toulouse Lautrec are a memory of Little Paris in the 2000s, they are a black and white photo of a "back to the future" film frame in which the actor uses a 16" wrench. Toulouse Lautrec borrowed from the painter's personality and spread- o on the airwaves and on the stages of the country. In an era of the prefix "post", Toulouse Lautrec are post indie-rock, post-mainstream and post-underground. They managed to survive myspace, youtube, instagram, spotify and now face artificial intelligence. They are and remain four guys playing guitars and drums and reinventing themselves for 14 years. They have 5 albums, dozens of songs in the charts, dozens of videos, countless concerts in about seven countries and seven seas. ,
At the beginning of 2015, the construction works for the project were received: Stability and safety works in operation, functional, technological and organizational optimization of the institutional ensemble Teatrul Național ”I.L. Caragiale'' from Bucharest. Due to lack of funds, the arrangement of the Open Air Theater (Amphitheater) was not possible within this project, being completed only between 2016-2018, from the institution's own funds.
In order to preserve the name of the old Amphiteatru hall, which was decommissioned following the reconstruction of TNB from 2011-2015, the new outdoor space will bear the name Amphiteatru.
The amphitheater is an open-air space where summer shows will be presented exclusively in the warm season, which we estimate (according to ANM forecasts!) between May and October.
Shows from TNB's current and prospective repertoire will be played at the Amphitheater, adapted to the conditions of this new playing space. As part of the Open Doors for All program, TNB actors are invited to propose projects specifically dedicated to this space.
The Amphitheater space can be rented to other theaters, independent companies, dance groups, music groups, free-lance artists, etc. to hold theater shows, concerts, recitals, fashion shows, jazz evenings, etc., on the basis of a legal contract for renting the space and having the approval in principle of the TNB management for the proposed event.
The space can also be rented to companies, firms, institutions interested in organizing events specific to their activity.
The basic rates for renting the space will be established by order of the Ministry of Culture and National Identity, under which TNB operates.
In certain situations, TNB can conclude partnerships with third parties for the realization of performances / events at the Amphitheatre, under conditions established by Partnership Agreements.
Contact for renting the space: Direction of organization and production of shows (director Constantin Vânătoru). Secretariat tel. 021 / 314 56 92.
Technical information:
The construction is at an elevation of +24.50 m / Building A1. At the same elevation are the following spaces:
- "Hall" itself, with an area of 431.56 sq m (of which the playing space is approximately 12 x 10 m = 120 sq m);
- 5 cabins for actors (93.33 sqm);
- Foyer and space for regrouping actors (103.22 sqm);
- Technical booths for lights and sound (17.40 sq m).
The maximum capacity is 299 numbered seats for spectators, arranged on tiered stands.
The playing space, with an area of approximately 120 square meters, has a wooden imitation floor, practical from the acoustic point of view and more suitable for the artistic act, covered with a stage carpet. There is no over-elevated stage, but practicables can be installed. The space has no bridge and no backstage: the scenery can only be fixed by counterweights.
The reflectors for stage lighting are placed under a semi-cylindrical metal canopy with a diameter of 2 m, placed circularly above the playing space.
