The Smile, Radiohead's side project, is performing in Bucharest in June 2024

The Smile's European tour will also include Romania this time, with a concert at the Roman Arenas on June 17 and tickets that go on sale Friday (January 12) on iabilet.ro. Better than that could only be Radiohead, but let's not be cheeky now.

Until then, the new album from the Radiohead side project – which features Jonny Greenwood, bandmate Thom Yorke and former Sons Of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner – will be released on January 26. The title track "Wall Of Eyes" is already out and came with a video directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

'Wall Of Eyes' is the follow-up to their 2022 debut LP 'A Light For Attracting Attention'. The new disc was recorded at Oxford and Abbey Road studios and is produced and mixed by collaborator Sam Petts-Davies and also features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra.

If I had continued my habit on this blog of naming the best albums of each year, I would definitely have chosen for 2022 "A Light For Attracting Attention", a record made with a free spirit and without the pressure of Radiohead fans behind it (or should I call them "sect"?).
