The famous guitarist Steve Vai performs in Bucharest

The famous guitarist Steve Vai performs in Bucharest on April 24 at Sala Palatului. The first 200 tickets are earlybird priced and go on sale Friday, January 20 from 10am.

Steve Vai is one of the most influential guitarists on the international music scene. With three Grammy Awards won and 15 nominations in total, along with tens of millions of albums sold, Vai got his start by playing with the great Frank Zappa, who was his teacher. In 1983, however, he chose the path of his solo career, and since then he has released 12 studio albums and sold millions of records worldwide. Musically, Steve Vai stated that among the artists who influenced him were Jimmy Page, Brian May, Ritchie Blackmore, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix or Allan Holdsworth.

Steve Vai is one of the most well-known and appreciated guitarists in the world, his compositions can be considered true works of art. While most musicians could easily fit into a certain category, Steve Vai's unique musical vision remains impossible to categorize. After more than 20 years, he continues to combine craftsmanship and profound artistic ability to explore the spectrum of human emotions.

His creations enjoy a perfect uniqueness, and as he himself declares, he likes to surpass himself and try the impossible: "I have always been driven by an addiction to create unique sounds - no better than the ones I they make other people, but only different. Things that haven't been done before appeal to me the most."

Since childhood he was influenced by Led Zeppelin and progressive rock, developing an inclination towards the conceptual side of rock. From this perspective, Vai considers that the album released in 2001, "Alive in an Ultra World", represents the peak of his conceptual efforts.

The album contains the song "Whispering a prayer" which brought the artist a Grammy nomination and about which he says: "It is probably the most beautiful song I have sung in my life. Every time I sing it, I am overwhelmed with feelings of freedom and happiness." But this nomination is far from the most important achievement of the American guitarist, he won three Grammy awards and 40 other awards during his solo career, which began in 1983.
The artistic legacy of Steve Vai

His mentor was Joe Satriani, with whom he studied guitar since the age of 12, making himself known once he joined Frank Zappa's band in 1980, with whom he collaborated until 1982. He also collaborated with bands such as Whitesnake, Alcatrazz, where he replaced Yngwie Malmsteen in 1985, and Public Image Ltd. He was also part of David Lee Roth's band from 1985-1990.

Not only Vai's music had a huge influence on contemporary hard rock, but also his guitar. Vai revolutionized the technique of this instrument, being among the first to play a seven-string guitar, and in 1987 he helped the Ibanez brand create the JEM series of guitars.

Throughout his career, Vai has been guided by the desire to make the world a better place through his music and actions. For this reason, he founded the "Make a Noise" foundation in 1988, through which he offers young musicians instruments that they would not be able to afford and a true musical education.

Steve Vai has an impressive discography that includes eight studio albums, two special albums, eight live albums, twelve soundtracks, twenty compilations and seven videos. He also collaborated on 44 other albums, singing with artists such as Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne.

Vai is among the guitarists who have repeatedly taken part in the famous G3 tour organized by Joe Satriani, a tour that brings on the same stage 3 top guitarists of the music scene.

The tour that also passes through Bucharest is called the Inviolate World Tour, just like the artist's latest album, Inviolate, released last year, and Steve Vai declares:

The North American tour was exceptional. Me and the band have been practicing well and we can't wait to introduce the Hydra guitar to the fans in Europe that I didn't get to see on the last tour. Your reactions to the Inviolate album were very positive and this was seen in the press, in the number of tickets sold and in the energy of the spectators so we are really looking forward to this tour.
