  
Ville Valo (HIM) comes to Romania at the Metalhead Meeting, together with Pantera
It seems that the rumors were true: Ville Valo is coming to Romania and will perform at the Metalhead Meeting 2023 festival. He will be the headliner on May 26. The setlist will include mostly HIM songs, but also own songs.
Ville Valo had a brilliant start to the year, with the former HIM frontman releasing the acclaimed solo album "Neon Noir". In a suit and with a Peaky Blinders-type beret on his head, Ville was appreciated in all the countries where he performed in the last months, and HIM's songs know a revival now. The artist also gave interviews in which he shows us that he is in great shape and has a lot of desire to sing, even if he is approaching 50 years old and has 20+ years of career behind him.
In addition to Ville Valo, a new wave of artists has been announced for Metalhead Meeting 2023. The headliner remains Pantera, but we learn that the following groups will join him: Black Sonic Pearls, Rhemorha, Oyd, Black Tooth, Fueled by Fear, Ironwill, Sense of Fear, Nest of Plagues, Spektrum and Psychorepaths. Given that the event at Romexpo is spread over 3 days, between May 26 and 28, we will certainly hear more names in the coming period.
If you ask me what would suit the specifics of the event and what other bands have been to Metalhead, 3 names immediately come to mind: Soulfly, Sepultura and Cradle of Filth. Especially since the latter are preparing two new albums: one live and one with new songs. Something symphonic wouldn't hurt either, from Within Temptation to Epica, Nightwish. Maybe a Katatonia and Lacuna Coil for melancholy.
Avenged Sevenfold or Trivium fall into the "wishful thinking" category, plus some other thrash act like Anthrax or Napalm Death.
Coming back to Ville Hermanni Valo, he is 46 years old and was the lead singer of the band HIM between 1991 and 2017. HIM was one of the most successful Finnish bands in history, with over 10 million albums sold. He received 8 Emma awards, a Finnish distinction and invented the music genre Love Metal. Ville kept the band's logo, the heartagram, which he now uses for his solo music project, VV. By the way he created that logo. |
