Robbie Williams, legendary shows and one of the best-selling artists of all time
Since starting his solo career in 1995, Robbie Williams has sold over 85 million albums worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. Williams is the holder of 13 albums that reached the first place in the UK charts, a record for a solo artist, not counting Elvis Presley. In addition, the artist has 14 number one singles, "Angels", "Millenium", "No regrets", "She is the one", "Rock DJ", "Children", "Supreme", "Road to Mandalay", being just a few of the songs that delighted hundreds of millions of people around the world and placed the artist from Great Britain as one of the legends of contemporary pop music.
Robbie Williams also holds the world record for the largest number of tickets sold at a concert in one day, 1.6 million tickets, but also for the largest concert in Great Britain, 375,000 people in three days. In 2004 he was included in the UK Music Hall of Fame after being declared the greatest artist of the 90s.
Robbie Williams started his career in 1990 as a member of Take That. He left it after he decided to start a solo career. In 1996, he released "Freedom", a cover of George Michael's song, which immediately reached second place in the UK singles chart. In the same year, he released his first single "Old Before I Die" and the mega-hit "Angels", catapulting him to the status of a solo star. "Angels" remains his best-selling song to date, while the single "Let Me Entertain You" became an international hit.
This year, Robbie Williams is celebrating 25 years of his solo career with the album "XXV", which features orchestrated versions of his best-known songs. The former Take That star has recorded new versions of his hits with Holland's Metropole Orkest to mark a quarter of a century since the release of his debut solo album Life Thru A Lens in 1997. At 48, Robbie Williams posed naked on a plinth for the album cover, an approach inspired by French sculptor Auguste Rodin's statue "Le Penseur" ("The Thinker"). The collection includes the hits "Candy", "Angels", "Millennium" and "Let Me Entertain You". In addition to this album, Robbie is preparing for the release of his biographical film, a project led by director Michael Gracey and entitled "Better Man", but also for the launch of his own talent show, after being sworn in on the X Factor in Great Britain, with his wife Ayda Fields and Simon Cowell.
