Def Leppard - London to Vegas
Def Leppard are back with another dvd release, but this is something special. Disc 1 is the mega selling 10x platinum certified “Hysteria” album, with a few well-chosen tracks to keep it company. Performed in its entirety before a thunderous sold-out crowd, this momentous event is made all the more powerful as it was their long-awaited debut at the iconic O2 Arena in London.
They fill the big O2 stage with ease, Phil has that confident swagger about him that we know and love, Vivian is always smiling, gives Phil a run for his money while Rick pounds his bass singing the catchy harmonies we all know and love. Rick Allen certainly make some noise while Joey gets the audience whipped up into a frenzy. I’ve seen Def Leppard countless times, but this has to go down as one of the greats.
“Hysteria” certainly stands the test of time, “Pour Some Sugar On Me,” “Animal,” “Women,” and “Love Bites,” being the standout tracks for me.
Concludes the set with a host of hits including “Let’s Get Rocked,” “When Love and Hate Collide,” and “Photograph".

A classic album given a well-deserved outing.

Six months later, just after their induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the leppards are back in Vegas as they undertook a residency at Zappos Theatre in Planet Hollywood, this dvd is the result.
The gig opens with the powerful rocking track “Die Hard the Hunter”, before launching into what is easily a mammoth two and a half hour set. The leppards never do a stage set by half, and this is no exception with massive stage video screens, mega lighting rigs and two stages. This gig by any other name is a greatest hits tour, however there are a good few well-chosen new additions, namely “Too Late For Love”, the quirky, but lovable “slang” and the hard rocking “Billy's Got a Gun”, which they dropped from their live set many many tours ago.
When the rocking stops, the band get intimate with acoustic renditions of rarely performed songs “Let Me Be The One,” “We Belong,” “Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad,” and “Two Steps Behind” Crowd favourites “Let's Get Rocked” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me” draw the last ounce of excitement from the crowd before the curtain caller that is the classic sing a long, “Rock of ages”.
