Jeff Beck: Live At The Hollywood Bowl.

This gig at The Hollywood Bowl back in August 2016, caught Jeff celebrating 50 years of him making music. And he was not alone.
The set-list is fairly predictable and starts with ‘The Revolution Will Be Televised’ from Beck’s latest studio album and accompanied with a dishevelled looking Rosie Bones.
“For Your Love with” the Yardbirds classic gets the crowd moving, However It is the mid-seventies to mid-eighties material that really stands out – ‘Freeway Jam’ and ‘You Never Know’ with keyboardist Jan Hammer reminding us that this was the decade when Beck was releasing his most well-loved stuff.
Becks pays his dues to the blues with ‘I’d Rather Go Blind’ with guest vocalist Beth Hart. It all seems a bit lack lustre early on, however things certainly pick up when a certain bearded guitarist show up to play Rough Boy, hardly a rocking song though. I think this is a great track, but was a poor choice.
Indeed it takes a very animated Steven Tyler singing "Train Kept A-Rolling" to really get the concert, and the crowd going.
The whole ensemble is back on stage for the final track, ‘Purple Rain, a fitting tribute to Prince who had passed away a couple of months before this concert.
No doubt this will receive rave reviews from Becks fans, and while I agree it is good, it could have been so much better.
I will say this though, at 73, Jeff Beck’s playing is exceptional, and I believe only one man today comes anywhere close, and that is Joe Bonamassa.
