So, here's comes the second big gig of the my punk summer in London: Pennywise, Good Riddance, Face to Face and Teenage Bootlerocket, all in one night.
I've already seen Pennywise and Good Riddance on a stage together and I know how powerful they can be. I missed Teenage Bottlerocket, damn tube!
So for me the first band on stage were Face to Face, one of the truest bands on the punk rock scene. They played just for 30 minutes, more or less, and that was a pity.
Well, all eyes on Good Riddance, and Russ, for sure knows how to be on a stage: full on energy and charisma.
Pennywise were terrific. They are an hardcore institution, and listen to them again, after all these years on the road, is a real experience. The pogo, the sing-along, the stage diving, the energy: all make sense in few hours of music. Fuck Authority, Society, Same old Story, some covers (especially Minor Threat) and there's no space for indecision, just jump in the middle of the crowd and keep singin' until the end of the show, a great show!
That's the power of punk. |
