Inglorious - Inglorious

 Betyg

Review4239_Inglorious_-_Inglorious

Inglorious are a new band - they only formed in February 2014. The band is fronted by Nathan James who has sung for Uli Jon Roth and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Despite being very new and not having released an album yet, I've been hearing a lot of good things about them, particularly from press colleagues who attended a recent event where they performed, so I was definitely curious to hear the new album. The thing with a big buildup is you're always worried the band will fail to live up to expectations, but that's definitely not the case here - this album is well worth waiting for.

Brief comments on a few tracks from the album....

The album starts off with "Until I die" with a Hammond organ style intro - straight away that conjures up a Deep Purple feel to it even before the rest of the band do anything, such is the association between that instrument and Deep Purple. The drums then gradually kick in and grow in volume before the guitar riffs join in and things build to a climax and the main part of the song starts. There's more of a Bad Company feel to the song than Deep Purple, largely due to the superb vocals from Nathan James. Check out the video for the song...

"Holy water" has it all - great riffs, a nice guitar solo and superb vocals where Nathan James really lets rip with his powerful voice and screams as well as singing.

"Warning" slows things down with it's acoustic guitar intro. There are great vocals too - you get a mix of slow softer vocals and music and more powerful vocals as the power of the music grows. An excellent track.

This really is a stunningly good album - you've got fantastic vocals, some great bluesy guitar parts, the organ and more which all combines to a really impressive hard rock album. There's a definite 70s feel to it, but at the same time it never feels dated. If Inglorious are as good live as they are on album then The Winery Dogs are going to have their work cut out to follow them on stage.

"Inglorious" will be released on 19th February 2016 via Frontiers music. Ahead of the album release the band will be touring supporting The Winery Dogs - see below for the tour dates.
