Inner Tongue - Tz Ka

Inner Tongue is a musician who wrote this EP at a time when he was unsure if he'd ever be able to speak or sing again. He was diagnosed with a severe vocal chord disorder in 2013 and had an operation to cure the problem. While waiting for the follow up appointment he spent his time in total silence in his apartment in Vienna at first before starting to write songs that he says "would produce a melodic tension without vocals but which featured the traits of forward-looking pop music". In the end it was 8 months after the operation before his voice was fully restored.

The electronic music here could be described as Indie-pop but simply calling it that wouldn't be doing it real justice - the music is beautiful - at times light and dreamy and at other times slightly darker and mournful. Really you need to hear it to understand how lovely the music is. Happily you can - check out the video below for "Fallen empire" and hear it for yourself.

I think this is an excellent EP - beautiful music and great vocals combine in three great songs.
