Ghost B.C. - If you have Ghost

Ghost B.C. released their second album, Infestissumam, in April this year, so it's a bit of a surprise to see them back so soon with a new release. This time though it's not a new album, but an EP of cover versions including covers of songs by Abba and Depeche mode amongst others, along with a love song. The EP has been produced by Dave Grohl and will be released on CD, Vinyl and Download formats.

It's certainly an interesting selection of songs to cover, although it's not the first time a rock/metal band has covered Depeche Mode (Lacuna Coil did that a few years ago for example), but I can't think of any rock/metal bands having covered Abba before.

Ghost definitely have a distinctive style and it's one that you either love or hate. Personally I like it, and what I like with this release is that they've applied their own style to the songs they've chosen to cover rather than trying to do a straight copy - when bands just do a straight copy I always think it's little more than karaoke, whereas when they change things and make it their own then that makes things far more interesting.

If you like Ghost then you're likely to enjoy this release, but if you aren't a fan then this release certainly won't change that.

"If you have ghost" will be released on 19th November via Loma Vista/Spinefarm.
