The acclaimed WHYBIRDS stream new track / return with new album

Three years since their critically acclaimed album Cold Blue Sky, home-counties Americana-Rock trio The Whybirds return with the first single to be taken from their forthcoming album A Little Blood. Named The Cure, and released August 26th, it is the first material the band have released since their split with bass player Taff Thatcher and sets the tone for the new record’s character-led story telling, for which they have become so well known.

Drummer, Luke Tuchscherer comments;

“The Cure is a song that Dave and I wrote, about a guy who can’t help but fuck up. He’s in a bad way at the beginning of a song – he’s unemployed, he’s drinking – then he meets someone who starts to turn him round. Unfortunately, he can’t quite give up his old ways. He loses the girl and lives in regret.

The song started as a kind of Crazy Horse-esque jam and evolved to where it had this kind of Led Zep-meets-Black Keys groove, with a big chorus. It’s unlike anything we’ve done before.

The character in the song is like a lot of them on the record. He’s made a terrible decision and has to live with it. That and similar themes are throughout A Little Blood: What happened to the people who didn’t fulfill the dreams we laid out on our last album? What happened to the folks from [previous album] Cold Blue Sky who tried to escape but didn’t make it? How do you deal with a life that isn’t the one you asked for?”

A little Blood will be released through The Little Red Recording Co. on November 4th
