Kansas band The Capsules have won plenty of fans with their live shows and records, including Steven Hillenburg, who got them to write a song for the TV show he created - Spongebob Squarepants. Their music has also appeared in video games including Borderlands 2
On this album, The Capsules have opted to tone down the guitar sounds and to use a lot more keyboards and electronics than they've used before. It's certainly a noticeable change, and I have to say I'm really enjoying the album.
The heavy use of keyboards and electronics has given the music a slightly strange eerie feel - it's not straight pop, there's far more to it than that. It's a really good sound, and Julie's vocals work well with the music.
Normally keyboard and electronic dominated Indie pop isnt something that appeals to me - but there's something about this album that makes it work and as a result I've really enjoyed listening to the album. It's definitely worth a listen.
