THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE RETURN WITH FIFTH ALBUM

Review1992_tbm

Canadian synth rockers THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE have announced details for their fifth studio album - “Hide And Seek”, was once again mixed by Rainbow and Dave Ogilvie (Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke, Marilyn Manson) who worked with the band on their last two albums - and will be released October 8th.

The dark time of year is drawing nigh and the monsters that live under the beds and in wardrobes to become the essence of countless children nightmares start creeping out of their summer hideaways. On “Hide And Seek”, The Birthday Massacre deliver the ideal soundtrack to all our collective childhood angst… another mesmerizing invitation into the band’s trademark darkly colourful wonderland comprised of Electo Pop, Gothic, New Wave and an atmosphere that mingles youthful imagination with quirky gothic visions that could easily have sprung from the creative mind of cult director Tim Burton.

The band and their energetic lead singer Chibi showcase their most mature song writing effort, ever, combined with an increased focus on electronics for maximum impact, more than ever before toying with musical extremes.

TBM have managed to outdo themselves with this new album – they managed to create an emotional pull that will leave you fully and utterly addicted.

“We wanted ‘Hide And Seek’ to have a certain depth and atmosphere, so we took time to create a lot of new sound textures that would complement running throughout it”, explains TBM guitarist Rainbow. He continues: “In turn, the lyrics are decidedly darker and more meditative than much of our past work which gives this album a lot of emotional weight and a very distinct tone”.

Singer Chibi adds: “We always want to be growing and moving forward. We have a formula for working together, writing and recording, that works – but as we grow and change as people, so will what we create. This records, as always, reflects who and where we are this moment in our lives and with each other”.
