"I think it's a really strong EP, Alone for me being the stand out, grandiose, triumphant and almost cinematic. She has got one damn strong voice." - Ally McRae, BBC Radio 1
After a successful stint working alongside Libertine Gary Powell, Scottish singer-songwriter Lizzie Nightingale has decided to spread her wings and go solo for the release of her forthcoming E.P Tiny Teardrops, which is available on Lizzie's Bandcamp page.
Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, Lizzie spent her early years doused in the edgy sounds of Eurythmics, Kate Bush and Bowie as well as a few Motown classics courtesy of her mother (who was a singer and performer). Harmonies and melodies came easily to her and after studying music theory and everything major to minor in between, the music bug took control.
With her musical goals firmly in sight, Lizzie released a compilation of demo tracks. She gained immediate support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2 and Galaxy FM and sold thousands in the UK and Japan. The success of these tracks also led to a Maida Vale session for BBC Radio 1. Her new EP, Tiny Teardrops, is the result of Lizzie finding her own individual sound, and after months of writing and developing, this timid yet vivacious Scottish girl is gearing up to showcase her raw and real talent.
Influenced by artists such as Regina Spektor, Kate Bush and Annie Lennox, Tiny Teardrops is written in its entirety by Lizzie, and produced by some of the best up-and-coming producers around. Lizzie has been collaborating heavily with Matty 'Parka' Thomson (Wayne Hector, Lady Leshurr, Monica) who has brought most of the EP to life, lending his tip-top production skills to Tiny Teardrops, Footsteps, and a heavy dupstep mix of Alone. She has also linked up with London based producer Mazoulew (Random Impulse, G.R.E.E.D.S) on the track Lights, a tribute to anyone who has love for what they do in life.
Although previously released on iTunes, the song Sparkle, produced by Joel Hartman (2000fastwomen) and the Team Tartan remix, courtesy of fellow Scot Show N Prove, (Rizzle Kicks, Benny Banks), both feature on the EP, as Lizzie felt they completed the package perfectly.
The latest video to be released from the EP is for Footsteps, which has racked up nearly 15,000 views in just a few days. Watch the video here.
This young lady has a bright future ahead of her; being a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer, and with her flawless vocal skills, she ticks all the boxes required for success. Look out for her on a stage near you, backed by her band, the mighty Remedies (Ed Sheeran, Mikill Pane). Live is how Lizzie does it best.
