Amplifest | FESTIVALPHOTO
Amplifest Amplifest has been a fantastic ride since its inception in 2011. In the three past editions, we had the pleasure of sharing many unforgettable moments with all of you who joined us: Godflesh in one of the first shows since their reunion; the long awaited return to our country of Godspeed You! Black Emperor; the first time in Portugal of bands like Amenra, Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Ufomammut, Chelsea Wolfe, Jesu and many more, all of them giving all their energy to stun the audience; the art exhibitions at Hard Club; the engaging Amplitalks at O Meu Mercedes; the bonding between artists and audience in between shows. These are just a few examples – if you have been here before, we’re sure you have your own highlights and special memories. If you haven’t, well, this will be the year? Amplifest taking place in the city of Porto, which was recently elected as European’s Best Destination. This will be Amplifest's most ambitious edition to date: expect a challenging and eclectic lineup, expect an event from and to music lovers. This will be an edition with a lot of heart so let's keep riding together – the path is upwards. http://amplificasom.com/amplifest/2015/ |

Thank you for understanding,
Amplificasom / Amplifest
Sadly, due to another festival having to cancel for lack of funds it has jeopardized my playing at Amplifest in September and made it financially impossible for me to come for the one show. I wanted very much to play in Portugal and I promise to be back as soon as I am able to do so.

Following Rundle's cancelation, Amplificasom added a new name to the bill: Noveller.
Handling the electric guitar as her muse, Sarah Lipstate aka Noveller summons a sonic palette so rich as to challenge the listener to conceive of how it’s housed in a single instrument manipulated by a solitary performer. The Brooklyn-based guitarist and filmmaker has toured with St. Vincent and Xiu Xiu, collaborated with Carla Bozulich, Thisquietarmy, Lee Ranaldo, Ben Frost and Glenn Branca, and on her portuguese debut she will not only celebrate her instrument – a Fender Jaguar guitar, with its warm, thin and concentrated tone – but also override it completely, getting it to become a synthesizer, an orchestra, an atmospheric-disturbance machine.

Amplifest takes place at Hard Club, next to the beautiful Ribeirinha and on the heart of Porto's historical zone on the on the 19th and 20th September.
The path from black metal to electronic music doesn’t seem like an obvious one, but for Altar of Plagues’ mastermind James Kelly it may have been almost like a straight line. Expansive, emotional and lustful, WIFE’s bass driven pop music still retains a bleak element that can be traced back to Kelly’s past works with Altar of Plagues. After a widely well-received debut EP, Stoic, WIFE released the LP What’s Between through the essential label Tri Angle Records – and will make his long awaited first appearance in Portugal at Amplifest.

Syndrome is the solo output of Mathieu Vandekerckhove, founder and guitar player of Amenra. Working as a vehicle to channel the explorations of Mathieu’s self and as a means to release negative energies, Syndrome’s desolate soundscapes delve into the territories of drone, post-rock and ambient music. For his Portuguese debut, Syndrome will cover Amplifest in grey with his visually and sonically entrancing live show.
Surprise Act
When we are constantly updated with information by our laptops and smartphones and our facebooks and twitters, the element of surprise has mostly been erased from our lives. Amplifest will give back to you a bit of that long lost thrill of expectation as a part of this “experience” thing we keep talking about. How? By adding to the lineup a band that you won’t know you’ll be seeing until the very moment they set foot on stage. We can only tell you this: it’s an international ever-growing band that will play a climatic show at Hard Club’s biggest room. That said, let the guessing begin.

"William Basinski is a widely renowned ambient musician best known for his tape-loop and delay manipulations, such as those found in his most iconic album The Disintegration Loops, which has been featured in several publications as one of the past decade’s most important works. Basinski’s compositions are minimalistic and seemingly repetitive, but they subtly evolve in a manner that is unearthly soothing and ultimately cathartic. Presenting his new album Cascade for the first time in Portugal, William Basinski will drive the Amplifest audience into a dreamlike state with a haunting audiovisual performance."
