Fairports Cropredy Convention Festival is run by members of fairport convetion who play the closing concert. From modest beginnings as a village fete, Fairport's Cropredy Convention has grown into a major music festival and a British summer institution. Now in its thirty- third year, the three-day Oxfordshire event is run and hosted by legendary folk- rock band Fairport Convention. From hundreds of fans in the early days the audience has swelled to nearly 20,000 people who occupy the site's nine fields every August. Cropredy presents a wide variety of rock, pop, folk and acoustic acts - everything from Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant to Seth Lakeman, from Alice Cooper to Jools Holland. The event is geared to families and enjoys a reputation as a particularly friendly and safe festival. Real ale is another key feature - the bar is used by public and performers alike making it one of the few major festivals where fans mingle with musicians. http://www.fairportconvention.com/cropredy.php |
