Another awesome not to miss session outside of the city. "Concrete and Bone Sessions".
Part theatre, part dance, part urban street sport, Concrete and Bone Sessions is an exciting confrontation between bodies and wheels set among the concrete, cracks, curves and graffiti of a skate park.

World renowned professional skaters and BMX riders rule this speed bowl – made super-human by their wheels. Pitted against them, parkourists, breakers and dancers fight for survival in a contest of wit, speed and virtuosity.

As the sun goes down, the inhabitants of the park flirt with risk and danger. From around the edges of the skate bowl, the audience watch as boundaries between body and machine become enmeshed in a new hybrid culture.

Venue:-
Jack Shanahan Reserve (Dulwich Hill Skate Park), Dulwich Hill

When
Previews: January 9, 10 at 7pm
Season: January 11 & 12, 14-19 at 7pm

** Sydney Festival News for DAY ONE **

Day One is a trilogy of free outdoor spectacles spearheading a weekend full of Sydney Festival openings and premieres.

Utilising some of Sydney's favourite pedestrian precincts, Day One provides entertainment for families and folk of all ages, with events going from morning ‘til night.

ACT 1: FUN RUN - Hyde Park 9.30am-2.30pm

"As the sun set and the runner entered the final leg of the race, the atmosphere was electric among onlookers still none the wiser as to why they were even there. A gold medal affair." The Age

When the Greek messenger Pheidippides ran to Athens to announce the Persian's defeat in the battle of Marathon, he ran 42.2 kilometres without stopping, burst into the Athenian assembly, delivered his news and died on the spot. Fun Run is his story...

ACT 2: THE ARRIVAL - Darling Harbour 2pm-4pm

Day One's family friendly party in the sunshine continues with The Arrival at Darling Harbour. Directed by Legs on the Wall's Patrick Nolan, The Arrival is a harbour-warming welcome celebration for Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman's giant bobbing artwork Rubber Duck at Darling Harbour.

ACT 3: DAPTONE SUPER SOUL REVUE - The Domain 7.30pm-11pm

When day turns to night, it's time to party in the park, Sydney Festival style.

In The Domain from 7.30pm, join 60,000 of your closest friends for the Daptone Super Soul Revue; a huge outdoor dance party featuring Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley, Menahan Street Band Budos Band and Sugarman 3, with the super cool Binky Griptite from the Dap-Kings as MC for the evening.

We dare you not to dance!
