Y-Not Festival | FESTIVALPHOTO
Y-Not Festival Y-Not was born in a small quarry in deepest Derbyshire. In its first year, it was a small gathering as the festival found its feet. A modest scaffold stage and hand-made DJ booth housed the acts and the quarry captured the sound perfectly, but if Y-Not was to expand a new venue was needed. A lot of searching and a few licence applications later and the festival was homeless no more. The setting is nothing short of spectacular, stunning views and plenty of room to grow. The second year was a mammoth step and the festival was transformed. Incredible stage and lighting, fantastic artists and a dynamic crowd combined to make one unforgettable weekend. Y Not 2009 saw the heavens open, although this didn't dampen the spirits of everybody involved as tickets sold out and the festival yet again delivered a refreshing blend of intimacy, variety and value, with muddy smiles all over the place. In 2010 The Subways, Futureheads and Mystery Jets headlined a truely epic event that saw Y Not shortlisted for "Best Small Festival" at the 2010 UK Festival awards. Then in 2011 took another Y Not sized step up and hosted its biggest and best weekend to date. Maximo Park, Feeder, The Go! Team, Miles Kane, The Rifles, Beardyman among a host of others showed us what they're made of and gave the Y Notters an amazing weekend. It was 2011 winner of Grassroots Festival Award and BEST Toilets. www.ynotfestivals.co.uk |
