After two years of Covid 19 restrictions, we hope that this year Hellfest will be not post-poned. The organisers have made a 7-days program, that has got two sections - the first one from 17 to 19 of June, and the second one - from 23 to 26 of June. The French festival Hellfest 2022 has announced news about the 15th anniversary edition that will consist of two weekends in Clisson. First of all, the announced event from June 17 to 19. Second, another round of concerts that will take place from June 23 to 26. In total, seven days of festival. METALLICA will be headlining on Sunday the 26th.

The organization has confirmed that these bands are falling off the bill: AVENGED SEVENFOLD, FAITH NO MORE, THE WILDHEARTS, POWERFLO, OBITUARY, 3TEETH, BELZEBUBS, NUMENOREAN, OF MICE & MEN, JUSTIN(E), LEGION OF THE DAMNED, HATEBREED and CROWBAR . 32 groups are incorporated in their place and a headliner is missing to be announced in April.

"Hellbangers, as you can imagine, organizing this edition in these troubled times feels is quite a challenge. Several bands have recently informed us of their unavailability for the 2022 edition. Indeed, the organization of some international tours is affected by the Covid situation.  Thus, we announce the cancellation of the following artists: The Wildhearts, Powerflo, Obituary, 3Teeth, Belzebubs, Numenorean, Of Mice & Men, Justin(e), Legion of the Damned, Hatebreed and Crowbar. We learned a few days ago that a new 'headliner' could not be present for this 2022 edition: Avenged Sevenfold.  In spite of this setback, we did our best to find alternatives to guarantee a colorful line-up for this anniversary edition and we are now able to announce the addition of 32 new bands to the 2022 line-up.  First of all, we are happy to announce that GOJIRA will close Mainstage 1 on the first weekend, for their only European festival show. What a pride to be able to place at the top of the biggest stage of the festival, a French band! Joe, Mario, Christian & Jean-Michel, see you on Sunday June 19th. Concerning the replacement of Faith No More, we have been able to confirm it recently but it will only be announced in April. We find a band that you have been waiting for a long time, for a unique show in European festival this summer and that will have its place as a headliner on Saturday, June 18th on Mainstage 1! It is important to know that Cashless system is asked almost everywhere on the festival and you can pay food only with the Cashless system.
Otherwise there is bank ATM at the festival, in Clisson's city and near the Leclerc.

LOCKERS
It is good to book a locker where you can charge your phone, photo camera batteries and hold your important things.
They are inside the Metal Corner area.

ACCOMMODATION
There will be Easy Camp but the reservations are not open yet.

For every Hellfest ticket's owner there is a free place in the campsite near the fest.
There you must to buy "water credit" to get unlimited access to water (sink and showers) for 4 days.

There will be organized spaces for car parks. It is not allowed to camp near your car.

How to get to the festival
The close big city with airport is Nantes, France. From there you have 3 options to travel to the festival:
1. With a train: SNCF (french rail ways) are a good way to go from Nantes to Clisson.
2. With a car - there will be organized spaces for car parks. It is not allowed to camp near your car.
3. With a suttle festival bus:
The special transports services Douillard are the official Hellfest’s shuttles for 2019.

Hellfest Open Air is one of the bigest festivals in Europe and one of the 10 best metal festivals in the world.
The tickets for this year were sold very early and just for 2 hours even before a single band from the line-up to be announced.
The heavy metal fans are so addicted to the festival, that they don't want to miss anything.
The festival will take place from 21st, 22nd and 23rd June 2019 in Clisson, France.
Manowar will headline the festival on June 21, and this concert will be their final show in France.
Other two bands that will have their final show on Hellfest are Kiss and Slayer.
There will be two main stages and 4 smaller.
Amongs the bands for the first night will be Demons and Wizards,
Dream Theater, Godsmack, Impaled Nazarene, Carcass, King Diamond, Sonata Arctica and Venom Inc.
On the second day will play Def Leppard, Cradle of Filth, Candlemass, Dark Tranquility, Whitesnake, Within Temptation, The Sisters of Mercy, ZZ Top, Moonspell and others.

Last october, Hellfest festival sold its all 55 000 3 days pass without the line up announced. Victim of its own success but daily supported by a huge fan community, the festival always wanted to remain close to its festival-goers, to listen to them and meet them.

Hellbangers! 40 days left till the festival and we come back to you to inform you about some moves in the 13th edition’s running order. We had to face some little mishaps but be reassured : we always do our best to satisfy our fans and make this experience at Clisson a major one!

We’ve announced few weeks ago that ELECTRIC MARY were performing at Mainstage 1 : MOS GENERATOR will wake you up on friday 22th instead.

And about the cancellation of 7 Seconds ; the french SVINKELS looks forward to see you instead at WARZONE stage.
The last move that day will be the switch between the Americans CROWBAR with the Japanese CHURCH OF MISERY (all details at www.hellfest.fr).

At WARZONE stage, HATEBREED will perform later on Saturday 23th and make way to CRO-MAGS.

WARNING : the biggest moves occur on sunday 24th. Feel free to read carefully about the changes written here and above (RO last version).

All the schedules are flipped between the Mainstage 1 and 2 ALL day on Sunday. The L7 « riot grrrl » will perform at Mainstage 1 to warm you up and following the cancellation of YOUNG AND IN THE WAY, the new yorkers TOMBS will perform instead on Temple stage.

This year, Hellfest thinks in big : an amateur band will be offered the mainstage thanks to the amazing international springboard powered by RIFFX ! The festival wants to support independents bands giving them the great opportunity to be part of the 2018 Clisson’s Great Metal Mass line up. As a festivalgoer, you’ll be given the chance to discover new nuggets from the Rock/Metal scene.

Every steps of the competition will occur from March the 5 to May the 4th, 2018 : registration, vote’s waves online, the 10 last names announcement and the final election of the winner nominated by a jury of professionals.

Hellfest wants to support the big winner more than an online experience ! The main goal of the springboard is to promote a band, to help him shine. DOWN > PUSCIFER

As a result of the latest events, we are sorry to announce that DOWN has to cancel their venue in Europe and thus won’t play in Hellfest 2016. We are glad to propose the band PUSCIFER (Featuring James Maynard > Tool‘s singer) as a replacement. The latter will perform under the Valley on Sunday, June 19th and as for FU MANCHU, they’ll play as headliners on Saturday, 18th. We’ll keep you aware of all the schedules. Stay tuned.

Dear Mme Garnier, Mr Retailleau, President of the Cultural Commission and President of the Regional Council of Pays de la Loire respectively.

It has taken you barely more than two months to elaborate your famous pretext used to cancel the 10 year long, historical partnership between the Pays de la Loire region and the HELLFEST festival; the biggest modern music festival in France, which I represent.


No, Madame Garnier you have had no intention of meeting with me, despite my many requests since your appointment, in December 2015, to the regional council. An appointment had indeed been arranged, but only with your “assistant.” I consider this proof of your lack of consideration for our festival, just recently voted best French festival for the second year in a row. Today we were informed of a sudden change to this appointment; finally you will be present. To what do we owe this honour of your presence so suddenly? Is it out of necessity to defend your stance, given your recent media outpourings.

I have read with great interest your recent communiqués to date. Statements published on social media networks to your 5000 followers. I would hasten to reply under the same form but before the scrutiny of our 300 000 followers.
I would glady have given you answers had you had the courtesy to contact me before throwing opprobrium onto an event which has never had the slightest incident to mention. An event for which the majority of the Loire’s inhabitants, national media and Prefecture have nothing but praise for its organisation and harmonious atmosphere. For I have learned of your “demand to exclude the group DOWN from our festival” via the press - a strange way to communicate with an organisation that is a so-called partner.


I will endeavour to give you my version of events, and by beginning with the facts your real intentions against our festival will come to light. Unlike you, I have no reason to hide my intentions, and I have no reason to lie to the electorate since I am not standing for office. To be honest, I am disgusted by politics, like many of my fellow citizens. It is my passion for my work and music that obliges me to write to you; regrettably, as I would have greatly preferred it were otherwise.
You received on February 2, an email from the collective “Provocs Hellfest ça suffit” (a collective renowned for their fierce opposition to our festival) informing you of an incident in the USA. You would see the artist Philip Anselmo, whom you had never heard of 72h previous, giving a Hitler salute and shouting “White power.”
We, like you, and I speak on behalf of the heavy metal music community, denounce this inexcusable effusion. Nevertheless, you deliberately omit to mention that this man has made multiple, public apologies, and has sworn that he is not anti-Semitic nor does he have hateful feelings towards any creed or kin. Moreover, we know this person and consider ourselves responsible and able enough to justify his presence among the many guests at our festival. This is in no way an act of complacency with regard to inappropriateness, as you have insinuated, for the festival that I head is, and never will be, a platform for racist or hateful rhetoric. This person committed a grave error that he regrets sincerely, it would be fallacious to consider him as someone he is not. I could send you a long list of artists known for pushing the boundaries of provocation under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Rock ‘n’ roll has always had its excesses that only its fans and connoisseurs can understand and forgive. David Bowie in his time, Sid Vicious, I could go on… Philip Anselmo has acted, I grant you, on this occasion as an imbecile. He is a provocative and fiery artist like many born out of Rock ‘n’ roll, but an artist that I would defend because I am certain that he does not belong among those who are hate-filled and spread nauseating ideas… Admit it, though, this does not interest you, only the pretext by which to please your electorate through cutting your ties to our event. Must I remind you that you have continually voted against supporting our cause (financially and morally) for the past 10 years in the opposition government? To hear you say that since your election, your regional council has never “withdrawn support for the festival nor even threatened to,” is but another of many political machinations designed to beguile the electorate in the Loire of your real intentions.

This festival has been such a successful adventure and example of human success. It has eradicated much prejudice against a stigmatised and caricatured public, too often wrongly judged as violent, occultist, even satanic. You must doubtlessly belong to those few remaining persons to realise this fact. This is as much a pity as it is worrying as the people in the Loire have put their trust in you to deliver a policy of cultural diversity in the Pays de la Loire region. This dynamic region should rejoice and be proud to see a group of passionate youngsters succeed in creating such a successful venture in rural France! We have created 15 full-time jobs, 500 part-time and temporary contracts in an unpredictable cultural sector! We have generated more than €5m of revenue for the Nantais wine industry and have been a formidable communication tool for tourism in a lesser known area!
I dare to hope that as a taxpayer in the Loire and Vendée, that my colleagues and cultural peers will not have to face the same wrath of your moralising convictions which, to me, are a barrier to freedom and cultural creativity. It is one of the few remaining cultural jewels in our economic crown that France can be proud of.

Throughout its existence, the festival has remained apolitical, yet we are not and have never been fooled by your intentions. An interview in December 2015 on the television channel France 3 confirmed our concerns. You replied in the interview: “Hellfest? I don’t like it…” “Have you ever been to Hellfest?” “No, because I don’t like it.”
Easy to see that you would have a hard time convincing many inhabitants that your main priority was to strengthen the partnership with our event, which you see as satanic and violent.
So, allow me to reiterate: keep your grant. We who love extreme music have no moral lessons to learn from politicians who have never taken the time to come, see and understand our event for themselves and then try to impose a code of conduct. Wouldn’t you agree that it is the organisers and festival-goers to decide what is good and proper for our event of which you know nothing? Wouldn’t it be better as elected officials to concentrate on the real problems that eat away at our society rather than to vent your anger on a festival and community of music lovers who, for 3 days, celebrate their passion in peace and harmony; and that almost the entire population of Clisson praises for their respect, politeness and kindness?

Madame Garnier, Monsieur Retailleau, you are going the wrong way and I am sad to have to say it, but your political tactics cannot mask the reality of the situation: you simply had to find a pretext with which to put an end to our partnership. One matter of concern on our side, we have been prepared for this since your election. HELLFEST is, and will always remain apolitical, pacifistic, and independent. A festival organised BY fans FOR fans that will never cease to make heard the music you deem so diabolical and unsavoury, contrary to all those who have the chance to come and hear it.
I challenge you to find but one person who has attended our event who is able to prove that our festival incites racial or religious hatred. You would not find a single one, Madame and Monsieur elected officials, once again you are fighting the wrong fight.
Madame Garnier, I am aware of your candidacy for the mandate to the city of Nantes; a place dear to my heart, a town of cultural richness I am so proud. I urge you to rethink your position for I would find it hard to bear living (and many Nantais too) in a Nantes with “selective culture.”
May our extinguished grant go to help other dynamic, innovative and creative cultural associations that dare to dream and know when to push the limits of political correctness… BORN TO LOSE, LIVE TO WIN, LONG LIVE ROCK’N’ROLL!

Are you ready to see the Iron Horde go heavy metal? It all started last November, when Grommash’s celebration of the lineup announcement for Hellfest 2015 quickly ignited an epic conversation between Warcraft fans and metal fans.
With over 140.000 attendees, Hellfest is a massive metal music festival that no true orc would ever want to miss. Last year Grommash and his Iron Horde were too busy getting ready to invade Azeroth and didn’t have time for a detour to western France. This year, they are prepared…

Monday, December 8, 2014 SOLD OUT ! Here we are: about twenty days will have been enough for all the Hellfest 3 days passes to be sold! It's the first time this happens: having to announce that the festival is "sold out" before Christmas! However, as we promised you, we managed to keep some one-day tickets. They should be available by the beginning of January, as well as all the necessary details that will allow you to make a choice between Friday, Saturday or Sunday! Note that not everyone will be able to purchase these "last chance" tickets, so you will have to struggle to obtain yours before other people, everything will probably happen in just a few minutes! Within only 10 years, all together, we managed to impose our common passion of rock and metal on the podium of the big french and european festivals, and all of us can be proud of this! With this new record, Hellfest proves once more how faithful its fans are. We thank you again for having followed and supported us during this last decade. We will welcome you on 19th, 20th and 21st of June 2015, in Clisson with new surprises, to blow the candle of Hellfest 10th anniversary!

CAMPSITE
Campsite is free and right next to the festival!

The campsite doors open Thursday 19 June at 2pm upon presentation of your ticket. You will then be given your bracelet for the festival so all you'll have to do is set up your tent !
BE CAREFUL ! This campsite is only for those holding a 1 or 3 day pass. When you arrive volunteers will give you a "camping bag" with goodies but its main use is as a bin bag and a you'll be given a token for every bin bag handed in. We rely on you to keep the site clean. A toilet block will also be available.

Shuttles will e parked in front of station at each train arrival from Thursday morning.
They will drop you at the gates of the festival.

At first, we invite you to take the train to Clisson.
If you don’t find any good train correspondence, you should book the shuttle service in advance by email. The line-up for HellFest 2014 includes bands like Guns and Roses, Ozzy Ozbourne, Lamb of God, Megadeath, and Obituary are some of the bands amongst the other performers who will set the stage on fire for you this year.

Bringing the best of metal to its audience, the HellFest 2014 will be a place to be as Lamb of God bring their distinctive style that set them apart from other American metal bands, which is mainly due to their brutal groove metal riffling style, displaying a definite affinity for thrash and death metal.

Don’t forget to attend the performance of The Devil’s Blood – an Occult Rock/Psychedelic Rock band from Netherlands that uses the myriad of artistic and spiritual influences, which creates the overall aesthetic of Netherlands. OPERATION GREEN CODE
This year, as always, something rather menacing will loom over the Hellfest campsite. Fortunately Anima'Green's decontamination team will be deployed to collect and sort all of your highly toxic waste.
The danger is great and, though well protected against the radioactive wastelands, the team can't decontaminate the site on their own...
Your mission, if you accept it: bring as much of your rubbish – collected and sorted – to the campsite's decontamination center as possible.
The bravest among you will be well rewarded for your courage, with merchandising straight from the Hellfest Shop!
The bravest of the brave will be awarded our highest honor: 2 VIP tickets for 2014's Hellfest!
Recruitment sessions will be held at the association's HQ, from Thursday the 20th of June onward.
Operation Green Code
A big change this year: Capsman is back. However due to no small amount of cheating spotted over the past few years, it will not be rewarded. In seems many people just collected their bottle-tops over the course of the year, swapping them for drinks tokens when they got to the festival. In some ways their initiative in the recycling and obtaining free beer departments can be applauded. However the aim of the Capsman initiative is to reduce the festival's ecological impact. It is therefore not right for the Hellfest to pay to take care of people's domestic waste.
Remember that these various Eco-friendly operations come at a price, in terms of both material and personal resources; the exchange with drinks tokens was an effort to reward such undertakings.
We are aware that many of you will be surprised by these news but it should viewed as an opportunity to get back to the real reason Mr Capsman came about! His appetite is just as insatiable and he can't wait to gobble down your bottle-tops!

Hellfest Shuttles:

At Clisson’s train station:
No reservation is needed.
Shuttles will e parked in front of station at each train arrival from Thursday morning.
They will drop you at the gates of the festival.

At Nantes’ train station:
At first, we invite you to take the train to Clisson.
If you don’t find any good train correspondence, you should book the shuttle service in advance by email. On this email specify the full names of each festival-goers who will take the shuttle plus day and arrival time as well as information about your train (from which city, time of arrival at Nantes’ train station etc…).
The shuttles will be parked at “Nantes Gare Sud”
You'll receive a confirmation of your reservation by email. Please don’t forget to print and bring this email with you.

At Nantes’ airport:
It is mandatory to book your shuttle trip by email.
On the email, specify the full names of each festival-goers who will take the shuttle plus the date and time of arrival and the origin of your flight.
The shuttles will be parked outside the airport.
You'll receive a confirmation of your reservation by email. Please don’t forget to print and bring this email with you.

Throughout the weekend:
The shuttles will be parked at the roundabout at the exit of the festival and will drop you off wherever you like in Clisson.
The return trip may be provided if you wish, please ask to the driver to come pick you up.
For any other trips, the price will be communicated according to the destination.

Returns each evening after the concerts:
No reservation is needed.

Arch Enemy cancells all their Europeas shows for this summer due to personal reasons. Napalm Death takes their place as Altar Stage headliner on Saturday 22nd.

HELLFEST 2013 : DEF LEPPARD COMING BACK TO FRANCE AFTER 17 YEARS !!!

The HellFest is proud and honoured to announce that DEF LEPPARD will make their grand return to France on Friday June 21st, 2013 as headliner for the first day of the festival.

This event will be DEF LEPPARD’s first concert in France for almost seventeen years (The band’s previous live appearance in this country dated from October 20th 1996 in Paris)!!!

With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide and two prestigious Diamond Awards (Def Leppard are one of only five rock bands to have two consecutive 10 million plus selling albums in the U.S. The others are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen.) to their credit, Def Leppard - Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick "Sav" Savage (bass), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Allen (drums)— continue to be one of the most important forces in rock music. Over the course of their career, the band has produced a series of classic groundbreaking albums that set the bar for generations of music fans and artists alike. The group’s spectacular live shows, filled with powerful melodic rock anthems, continue to sell out venues worldwide.

The announcement will come as a welcome surprise to French fans, as the band was not scheduled to tour Europe in 2013. On top of this breaking news, this one off concert will also give the French crowd the opportunity to enjoy the fantastic “Hysteria & More” show that DEF LEPPARD will perform this spring at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At Hellfest, DEF LEPPARD will share the main stage with Whitesnake, Europe, Twisted Sister, Saxon and Helloween.

Once the final threat is done and that more than 35,000 troopers will have gathered on the morning of June 21, 2013, the 160 bands will deploy over 6 different zones.The bands will be dispatched on these 6 areas according to their musical style and importance.

17 bands per day including headliners will play on the two main external stages "Mainstage 1" and "Mainstage 2."

A double tent will host two other stages with 18 bands per day. One of them is called "The Altar" and will offer the best Death Metal and Grindcore acts. The other one is called "The Temple" and it is on this stage that Pagan and Black Metal bands will play.

Under "The Valley" tent you will find the 5th stage, where you can enjoy 9 bands every day playing Stoner, Doom, Sludge, Psychedelic and other Metal Alternative...

Finally 9 bands per day will also perform at "The Warzone" which will be dedicated to Punk and Hardcore.
