Flow Festival has become synonymous with bringing music from old school legends to topical newcomers. Beyond the music, Flow, offers a warm embrace of the arts and an exceptional array of world spanning cuisine. Flow adds more acts to its lineup

Additions to Flow Festival's lineup include US-based hip hop acts Tyler, The Creator and iLoveMakonnen, UK-based electro debutant Years & Years and US-based Future Brown. Flow will also feature fresh Swedish pop act Elliphant, established American DJ Diplo as well as Finnish artists Paperi T, Have You Ever Seen The Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS?, French Films, J. Karjalainen's Lännen-Jukka act, Manna and Regina.

Flow Festival adds several new acts to its lineup. Making its debut in Suvilahti in August 2015 is The Odd Future rapper and producer Tyler, the Creator, who is known for his provocative performances. iLoveMakonnen's Tuesday was one of last years biggest anthems, and expectations skyrocketed, when the promising young artist signed to Drake's label. Touted as one of his generation's primary hip hop acts, London-based trio Years & Years recently won the BBC Sound 2015 vote, which focuses on predicting the coming year's breakthrough acts. Each single so far has proven the band is capable of writing timeless pop hits infused with the day's quirky sounds, combining electro-pop to dance to, r'n'b and house. Super group Future Brown formed by Fatima Al Qadiri, J-Cush and Nguzunguzu has also recently made an impact with an exciting combination of hip hop and grime.

Singer and MC Elliphant is one of Sweden's most promising stars with her unique sound that is influenced by dancehall and bass music. Her breakthrough has been supported by top producers such as Dr. Luke and Diplo. The American DJ Diplo will also perform at 2015's Flow both as a member of Major Lazer and djing on his own.

Local acts have also been added to the lineup, such as Paperi T, who has gone solo from rap trio Ruger Hauer and become one of the countries most talked about debutants. Others included are Have You Ever Seen The Jane Fonda Aerobic VHS? who play nostalgic pop-rock, indie rock group French Films who are working on new material, Jukka Karjalainen who plays the only show of the year performing solo as Lännen-Jukka, and Finnish-Algerian singer-songwriter Manna, who takes the Flow stage with a band including strings. Gracing Suvilahti will also be Regina, playing at Flow a few months before the tenth anniversary of its Katso maisemaa debut album and about three years since its previous live show.

Jessie Ware joins the Flow Festival lineup

The increasingly popular UK-based singer-songwriter Jessie Ware will perform at Flow Festival on Friday, August 8th. At the same time, Charli XCX has had to cancel her performance that was scheduled for Friday.

Jessie Ware rose to prominence with her debut album Devotion in 2012, which lead her to become the favourite newcomer of both critics and music fans. Ware spices up her soul and r'n'b with e.g. dubstep, and her best-known hits include Wildest Moments and Running. She'll release her new single Tough Love on the eve of Flow, on the 3rd of August. Her second album, featuring e.g. Miguel and Dev Hynes, will be released later this year.

Circus and music to entertain children on Flow Sunday

Flow Festival organizes a festive day for kids again on Sunday August 10th, when 0-10-year-olds are welcome for free with their ticket-carrying parents from 2pm to 5pm. Kids' entertainment takes place in the green backyard area, where Hurjat Silmät plays music specifically for children and the circus students of Circus Helsinki perform. The daytime show is hosted by DJ Alina, who also hosts the popular Ipanapa radio show on the Helsinki-based Basso radio station.

Hurjat Silmät plays music to dance to and is a brother-sister duo of 10 and 12 year-old Tuure and Alma. They started their band in 2010, and had their debut show at Flow already in 2011. El Camino Records released their debut album of anarchic folk in March.

The awarded group of Circus Helsinki's circus students aged 10–18 will do balancing acts, acrobatics and juggling. The host and DJ of Flow's children's show is Alina who runs the popular Ipanapa children's program on the Basso radio station.

During the Family Sunday baby carriages and strollers can be brought along to the festival area, as well as children’s food and supplies. Children must be escorted from the festival area right after the family program due to security issues.

Flow Festival on the verge of international breakthrough

The results of Flow Festival’s consistent international commitment are starting to show. Quality press throughout Europe picked Flow Festival as one of the top 10 festivals in 2014, including UK-based newspaper The Guardian, Germany’s Der Spiegel and the British music magazine Clash. Additionally US-based The Huffington Post and Europe Festival Guide have named Flow as the No 1 boutique festival in the world.

Since the first time it was organized, the Helsinki-based Flow Festival has focused on quality in its music offering as well as its services. It has been curated to become a top quality international festival. The content is tailored each time with high international standards in mind rather than a focus on the local standard. For years Flow has also promoted itself internationally with the assistance of PR agencies in different European countries.

In the next five years, Flow Festival aims to multiply the number of festival guests from outside of Finland from the current less than 10 per cent. It is a big challenge to rise to since Helsinki does not have the same pull as a travel destination among Flow’s target audience as Europe’s biggest metropolises. To achieve this target, Flow needs support from the City of Helsinki as well as other instances, because the international marketing of a city festival often culminates in the marketing of the city where the event takes place. Flow has actively collaborated with travel organizations to develop services, and wants to further improve what hotels and other travel services have to offer in the Finnish capital. This year almost all the hotels of Helsinki are fully booked as the Flow Festival weekend approaches.

Manic Street Preacher to perform at Flow Festival

The Welsh heroes of intellectual stadium rock will play on the Flow Festival main stage on Saturday, August 9th. The Flow gig will feature material also from the band's new album Futurology.

Manic Street Preacher’s new album Futurology, released officially today, has already been praised as the band's most interesting piece of work since the 1998 hit breakthrough album This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours. Futurology is the band's twelfth studio album.

Manic Street Preachers is best known for the hits such as If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next, A Design For Life and Everything Must Go.

Röyksopp & Robyn and How To Dress Well added to the Flow lineup

Norwegian duo Röyksopp and Swedish Robyn will visit Flow Festival on their Do It Again 2014 tour. The U.S­.-based How To Dress Well is another addition to the Flow’s expanding and exhilarating lineup.

Röyksopp and Robyn are currently touring sold out arenas in the USA, getting media attention e.g. from their performance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live Show. The joint project will take on Flow on Sunday August 10th in the Lumia Blue Tent, where the trio offers a two­hour futuristic show livened up with lasers.

The U.S­.-based How To Dress Well recently released its new What Is This Heart album, recently featured as the album of the week on Radio Helsinki and getting an astounding 8.8 out of 10 on Pitchfork. How To Dress Well performs in Flow’s Black Tent on Saturday August 9th.

Flow presents an outstanding program of experimental music

The Other Sound focuses on experimental music, and the lineup includes e.g. Evan Parker, Tomoko Sauvage and Monopoly Child Star Searchers.

This year is the fourth time Flow Festival focuses on experimental music with the popular The Other Sound program curated by Fonal Records’ Sami Sänpäkkilä together with the Flow team. Due to the rising attendance numbers, it’s time for a bigger space at Flow, namely the Suvilahti area’s Kattilahalli better known as Voimala during the festival. Fittingly for the theme Voimala houses Anssi Kasitonni’s experimental robot installation, one of this year’s art projects.

The Other Sound features an international lineup of artists including renown British saxophonist Evan Parker, Monopoly Child Star Searchers from the US that charms with its hypnotic music, and the Paris-based Japanese musician and sound artist Tomoko Sauvage, who plays with different forms of water – drops, waves and bubbles. From the experimental scene in Belgium Flow introduces Maan, raising a lot of interest in the underground scene recently. Another featured Belgian is Miaux with its dreamy synth sounds. There’ll also be a special joint show with three respected musicians: German pianist-composer Hauschka, Finnish percussionist Samuli Kosminen and former Kronos Quartet cellist, American Jeffrey Zeigler performing a rare gig as H K Z.

The lineup of Finnish artists impresses with a local experimental music legend Kemialliset Ystävät, whose just-released album Alas rattoisaa virtaa has received great reviews, electronic music played with kids’ toys from Grateful Däd, trashy rock act Hopeajärvi, minimal electro pop from Lentoliskot, thought-provoking electro by Nuslux, original and charismatic singer-songwriter Joose Keskitalo, folk rocker Nicolas Kivilinna, as well as the jazz outfit Sound & Fury. Solo sets will be seen from Antti and Jaakko Tolvi, who have both done notable careers in alternative music.

Legendary post-rock group Slint to perform at Flow Festival

U.S.-based Slint will perform for the first time in Finland on Friday 8th of August.

Reunited in 2013, the largely overlooked alternative act Slint became one of the most influential and far-reaching bands to emerge from the American underground rock community of the 1980s. Innovative and iconoclastic, Slint’s deft, extremist manipulations of volume, tempo, and structure cast them as clear progenitors of the post-rock movement.

Slint released their first album Tweez in 1989. It was recorded with Steve Albini, who also produced albums for the Pixies, PJ Harvey and Nirvana. In 1991, Slint's second album Spiderland was released, and the world would never again sound the same – the record can be seen as one of the first post-rock albums ever. The album was introduced to a wider audience when the song Good Morning, Captain appeared on the soundtrack for Larry Clark’s controversial 1995 film Kids.

Mos Def and jazz added to the Flow Festival lineup

Hiphop artist Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def will be performing at Flow Festival in August. In addition three jazz acts – U.S.-based Roy Hargrove Quintet and the Finnish groups Mopo and Antti Lötjönen Quartet East – join the program of the atmospheric Balloon 360° Stage.

Brooklyn hiphop artist Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def will perform at Flow Festival on Friday 8th of August. Mos Def, born Dante Terrell Smith, appeared in his early career on De La Soul's Stakes Is High, and to a wider audience he became known from the hiphop group Black Star. Since, Mos Def has made a successful solo career and sold millions of albums. His record Black on Both Sides certified Gold in sales in the U.S. and the latest album The Ecstatic got nominated for a Grammy Award. Mos Def is also known as an Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor.

Jazz is well represented among the Balloon 360° Stage lineup. The full 360 degrees of the stage is open to the audience and people can enjoy the gigs in an intimate setting seated around. On Friday the stage will be set for Roy Hargrove Quintet, the group lead by Roy Hargrove, the Grammy awarded trumpeter. Hargrove started his career in the 90s, when he had a major role in creating the sounds of the likes of D’Angelo and Erykah Badu. More recently, Hargrove has continued to develop his jazz styles, which combine Afro-Cuban rhythms and hard bop.

On Saturday the stage will be graced by the hottest trio of the Finnish jazz scene, Mopo. The group takes its inspiration from jazz, 70s punk and the Finnish nature. And on Sunday the stage presents Antti Lötjönen Quartet East. Double bass player Antti Lötjönen is the only person played every single Flow Festival all the way from 2004 until 2014. This summer he brings his fresh new jazz quartet to the festival to perform Lötjönen’s compositions as well as carefully selected covers and some solo bass improvisation.

My Bloody Valentine, Grimes and many more added to Flow's program

The legends of alternative rock, My Bloody Valentine, hot on the heels of their praised comeback album, electro artist Grimes and many other acts have been added to the lineup of the Flow Festival. All tickets come on sale today on Friday the 5th of April.

Founded in the early 1980s, Irish band My Bloody Valentine returned from a 22-year break from recording in February, and will now perform at Flow this August. Their previous record, 1991's Loveless, has become one of the most highly praised, undeniable classics in its genre with its uncompromising buzz. This year's m b v is one of the most impressive comeback records ever.

Other new additions to Flow's lineup are New York's Parquet Courts with its garage-sounding ruckus and roll, the new star of alternative pop, Grimes, and Junip, the band fronted by the master of timeless folk José González. Last year's Visions from Canadian Grimes was at the top of countless best of the year lists and Pitchfork picked Oblivion as the best song of 2012. Grimes follows-up her success with a fourth album expected in autumn 2013. Junip is also set to release new material in April.

Local additions to Helsinki's Flow Festival are jazz acts Dalindèo and Verneri Pohjola & Black Motor, two acts from the top of Finnish hip hop, Loost Koos and Laineen Kasperi ja Palava Kaupunki, as well as the bunch of reggae artists brought to Flow's backyard by the Reggae Sundays club including Bitty McLean, Gappy Ranks and Christopher Ellis.

All Flow Festival tickets will come on sale today on Friday April 5th and the day-by-day schedule of the festival has been released. More acts will be added to the lineup during the spring.

Bat For Lashes added to Flow's program

Bat For Lashes, Hudson Mohawke, Julia Holter, Black Lizard, Jaakko Eino Kalevi and Aino Venna are added to the musical palette the Flow Festival will offer in August 2013. Flow also launches its new Magazine section online.

One of the most admired songwriters of her generation, Bat For Lashes, is added to the Flow Festival’s lineup. The British Natasha Khan aka Bat For Lashes released her eagerly waited third album, The Haunted Man, last autumn. It is further proof of Khan's unerring ability to create a consistent masterpiece out of unique pop songs – one of them was the single Laura, one of 2012's most praised songs. The artist is known for her intense gigs, so expectations are high for her Flow performance.

Other additions to this summer's Flow are Californian Julia Holter, whose experimental pop has astounded audiences and critics and Scottish top producer and DJ Hudson Mohawke. The program also saw additions from the domestic scene with psychedelic garage rock band Black Lizard, Jaakko Eino Kalevi's bright and vibrant electro, and one of the most recent success stories of the Finnish indie scene, Aino Venna.

Flow Festival is also launching its new Magazine section online. The publication breaks the boundaries of traditional festival websites and also features content loosely related to the festival. There will be fresh insights on Flow artists and their music, texts on general cultural phenomena as well as reports on how the festival is coming together and Flow's ten-year history.

Kendrick Lamar added to Flow lineup

The hip hop sensation is joined by two of the year's most promising bands, Haim and AlunaGeorge, to play at the Flow Festival in Helsinki.
Kendrick Lamar, whose debut album Good Kid, m.A.A.d City went to the top of the U.S. album chart and pleased both fans and critics, will be performing at the Flow Festival in August. He has been praised for his live shows and these days the championship belt of West Coast rap rests comfortably around this 25-year-old's waist. Lamar's raps and sounds have also been endorsed by rap-royalty such as his label boss Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

Flow will also feature two hotly tipped newcomers as California-based Haim and London-based AlunaGeorge join the lineup. With their fresh blend of r'n'b and indie pop, Haim's group of sisters were voted to the top of BBC's Sound of 2013 list. It makes the band's debut eagerly expected. The top of the BBC ranking also featured AlunaGeorge, whose hits Your Drums, Your Love and You Know You Like It have made their mark with a marriage of electro-pop and swaying r'n'b. Their debut, Body Music, is also one of the summer's most anticipated debuts.

Flow Festival adds the phenomenal Krafwerk 3D Show to the program

Kraftwerk, the pioneers of electronic music, perform their 3D visual spectacle at Flow Festival in August.
In addition to this, numerous other interesting artists from today’s club music scene will act in Suvilahti, Helsinki.

Accompanied by a strong visual spectacle, Kraftwerk will serve a setting of their music from all the past decades. The concert will include a unique 3D visualization, for which the audience will be handed out 20,000 pairs of 3D glasses. These sold-out and critically acclaimed 3D shows have already amazed London’s Tate Modern and New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

It’s not only electronic music legends that represent what Flow is about: emerging innovators Disclosure will also be presenting their forthcoming debut album to Flow’s expectant crowds. Additionally, Nu-Disco frontliners Tensnake from Germany,Todd Terje from Norway and the queen of deep house Maya Jane Coles are now added to the electronic strand of this exciting mishmash of musical talent.

Flow Festival announces first 2013 artists

Flow Festival announces the first artists to perform in Helsinki's Suvilahti on 7–11 August 2013. The tickets will go on sale on Monday 28 January.

The tenth edition of Flow Festival will kick off with the Opening Concert featuring The Knife on Wednesday 7 August. The elusive Swedish duo will release their new album during the spring, just in time for their upcoming Helsinki performance.
The first line up announcement for the festival weekend includes legends and topical newcomers alike. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are set to return to the live circuit and will make Flow Festival a part of their tour schedule. Blixa Bargeld, a previous long-time member the Bad Seeds and the german industrial band Einstürzende Neubauten, will perform solo at the festival, showcasing his experimental sound excursions. The queen of unorthodox hiphop, Azealia Banks and the hotly-tipped R&B act Solange are new additions with strong contemporary resonance. Both of them will release their debut album soon. Other newly-emerged acts on the rise are a punk-influenced queer rapper Mykki Blanco, Iceland's Of Monsters and Men, forging their multi-layered brand of folk-tinged indie-pop, and Sweden's Goat, showcasing their personal sound with influences from various musical cultures. The British techno producer duo Karenn will keep the clubbers happy.

African rhythms continue to be a strong part of the Flow Festival experience, as the traditional-meets-modern sounds of Jupiter & Okwess International from Congo and the afro beat stylings of the key Ghanaian highlife artist Ebo Taylor will be heard in Suvilahti. The first Finnish artists announced for this year are the moody electronic combo Sarah Kivi & Non Orchestra and the crowd favorite and one of the recent success stories on the local scene, the R&B artist Karri Koira.

As previously, Flow will again feature a wide variety of visual arts and film on its program, which will take its shape during the spring. The tickets for Flow Festival 2013 will go on sale on Monday January 28 at Tiketti. The first tickets to go on sale are the three and four-day festival passes and the Wednesday Opening Concert tickets.

New acts added to the Flow Festival line up

Bobby Womack, Frank Ocean, Richie Hawtin, Yann Tiersen, Swans, Monolake, plus others join the festival program, UK ticket sales begin.

Flow Festival, organised in Helsinki’s Suvilahti on August 8–12 2012 has announced new additions to the event’s line up. These include soul legend Bobby Womack, about to release his new album in June, the rising star of contemporary R’n'B, Frank Ocean, trail blazing techno artist Richie Hawtin, the beloved French songwriter Yann Tiersen, New York’s post-punk heroes, Swans, the mastermind of far-reaching Berlin techno, Monolake, and the seminal DJ-producer Hudson Mohawke, amongst others.

Flow will also host African groups Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou from Benin and Tamikrest from Mali. The acclaimed Austrian artist Fennesz will perform as a part of The Other Sound concept, that showcases experimental music. More artists on The Other Sound program will be published later in the spring.

Other international additions to the line-up are Korallreven (SWE), Lindstrøm (NOR) and Africa Hitech (UK/AU). New domestic artists are Huoratron, Burning Hearts and the unique trio Unela, comprising of saxophonist Jukka Perko, singer-songwriter Yona and producer Samuli Kosminen.

The ninth Flow Festival will be organised in Helsinki’s Suvilahti 8–12, 2012.

With the new announcement, Flow Festival tickets also become available in the UK via See Tickets. Four day festival passes (including the festival weekend + the Opening Concert with Bon Iver on Wednesday August 8) are available for the price of 135 GBP, whereas three day weekend passes sell for 110 GBP.

The Black Keys, Ane Brun, The War on Drugs, Nicolas Jaar, Flying Lotus, A$AP Rocky, St. Vincent, Jason Moran and The Bandwagon plus Horace Andy among those to take the stage at Flow in Helsinki next summer

Flow Festival has confirmed new acts to perform at the ninth annual edition of the event in Helsinki's Suvilahti on 8–12 August 2012. Some twenty acts, including both international and domestic names, have been added to the bill, which already includes Björk, Feist and Bon Iver. With the announcement, the remaining ticket types also go on sale at Tiketti outlets.

New international artists on the Flow Festival program include the blazing hot American rock group The Black Keys, the Norwegian singer-songwriter Ane Brun, the Philadelphia-based indie rock band The War On Drugs, two innovators of electronic music in Flying Lotus and Nicolas Jaar, contemporary rap trailblazer A$AP Rocky, indie pop up-and-comer St. Vincent, reggae legend Horace Andy and the award-winning jazz pianist from New York, Jason Moran, who will host a very special residency over two days at the stage built for Flow in co-operation with the "Wastelands" architectural assembly.

Other acts on the Valentine's Day program release are soul star Charles Bradley And His Extraordinairies, Four Tet & Cairbou, performing a unique back-to-back DJ set together, one of the highlights of the album release year 2011, Oneohtrix Point Never, dubstep innovator Pinch, the South African dance phenomenon Shangaan Electro and the ambient duo of two composers, A Winged Victory For The Sullen.

New Finnish artists confirmed for Flow are Jukka Poika, Gracias, Siinai, Verneri Pohjola Quartet, Black Twig, Bendagram and Kuusumun Profeetta.

More acts will be added to the line up during the spring.

With the new release, the remaining Flow tickets will be released on sale, namely two-day ticket combos and single day passes for Friday and Saturday.

Feist to perform at Flow Festival on Sunday August 12

More artists will be released February 14

The Canadian artist Feist will perform at Flow Festival 2012. Feist will perform at Flow during the festival's final day, Sunday 12 August. More additions to the line up will be released on Tuesday, February 14. The ninth Flow Festival will be organised in Helsinki's Suvilahti on 8–12 August 2012.

Leslie Feist (born 1976) rose to the forefront of modern pop music with her 2007 album "The Reminder". Both critics and fans lauded what was to become the talented artist's breakthrough record thanks to Feist's remarkable charisma, her sheer talent as a singer and songwriter, and the hit-filled album's depth as a musical achievement. Feist's 2011 LP "Metals" took things a step further, introducing a more organic sonic palette with added warmth, offering the perfect backdrop for one of the most talented vocalists in modern music.

On Sunday 12 August 2012, Feist will make her long overdue Finnish debut at Flow Festival.

Flow Festival and Wastelands announce a design contest

The design spectrum at Flow Festival expands in 2012 with the "Stage" competition, organised in co-operation with Wastelands: XXXII European Architecture Students Assembly. The aim of the contest is to create a new Flow Festival venue suited for intimate performances, bringing the audience and the performer close to each other. The winning entry will be constructed at the festival site in Helsinki's Suvilahti in July during the Wastelands assembly. The stage will be utilised as one of the venues at Flow Festival 8–12 August.

The contest is open for students, postgraduates, researchers and/or equivalent non-practising professionals of the fields related to architecture, arts and design. Participating is possible for individuals or groups of 2-4 persons. The deadline for proposals is March 31. Wastelands is an international two week festival of workshops, lectures, social interaction and monumental experiences organised in Helsinki on 16–29 July. The event will bring together 500 young, emerging architects and artists from nearly 50 countries around Europe and beyond. Wastelands is part of the Helsinki World Design Capital 2012 program.

Opening Concert. The ninth edition of Flow Festival takes place at
Helsinki's Suvilahti on 8?12 August, tickets go on sale Wednesday 7
December.

Flow Festival, organised at Helsinki's Suvilahti for the ninth time on
8?12 August 2012 has announced the first artists on the line up. The
Icelandic superstar Björk will make on of her rare "Biophilia" tour
appearances at Flow on Sunday, the closing day of the festival. Festival
proceedings kick off on Wednesday 8 August when Bon Iver performs at the
Opening Concert organised on site at the Blue Tent venue. Flow tickets go
on sale at the Tiketti outlets on Wednesday 7 December at 9 am. First
released on sale are the Wednesday and Sunday single day tickets, the three
day festival ticket, and the full festival pass including the Flow weekend
plus the Opening Concert.

Björk Guðmundsdóttir is one of the great pop icons of our time. The
artist, known as a visionary never taking the easy road with her projects
released her stop-stopping first album "Debut" in 1993 and has since been a
trailblazer of forward-looking pop music. Her new album "Biophilia" is a
wide-ranging multi-media experience which comprises a studio album, apps
for each song, a website, custom-made musical instruments, live shows, and
educational workshops. The "Biophilia" tour showcasing Björk's new live
spectacle touches on selected locations during the summer of 2012, one of
the being Helsinki and Flow Festival on Sunday 12 August.

Bon Iver, formed in 2007, is a United States based band led by
singer-songwriter Justin Vernon. Bon Iver has released two full-length
albums to date to critical acclaim. The debut "For Emma, Forever Ago"
showcased a group with a knack at crafting highly personal contemporary
folk-influenced indie rock characterised by Vernon's recognisable vocal
work. The self-titled sophomore album, released in June 2011, took the
band's sound a step further and Bon Iver's live performances hot on the
heels of the release have been nothing short of remarkable. Vernon also
guested on Kanye West's latest LP to memorable effect. At the Flow Opening
Concert, Bon Iver performs at the intimate Blue Tent venue on the festival
site on Wednesday 8 August.

The Flow Festival venue in 2012 will be the historic power plant area at
Helsinki's Suvilahti, the festival's home since 2007. The area itself
expands to serve the audience even better than before and the program at
Flow keeps on developing to include even more colours on its palette of
music, visual arts, cinema and seminars. "The Other Sound" concept of
experimental music at Flow will also broaden to include events on Thursday
9 August, as will the seminar program initiated in 2011. This means that
for the first time in the event's history, Flow Festival will spread over
five days in 2012.

As the ticket touting at the 2011 event was excessive, Flow and Tiketti
will introduce new guidelines for ticket purchases, namely requiring ticket
holders to be identified upon ticket purchase. This new practice aims at
enabling the availability of as many Flow Festival 2012 tickets as possible
at the standard retail price at the official ticket outlets.

Flow Festival program complete, stage schedule released

Ticket sales continue at a record-breaking rate

Flow Festival, organised this year for the eight time in Helsinki on August 12–14, has completed its program with the latest additions. This also marks the release of the stage schedule with detailed performance times to be found at the Flow website. The festival tickets continue to sell at a remarkable speed which far surpasses that of the previous years'. The three-day Flow passes have sold out, as well as all ticket types containing Saturday. There is still a small amount of FRI+SUN two-day passes and day tickets for Friday and Sunday available at Tiketti outlets.

New domestic additions in the lineup include the cosmic jazz collective Astro Can Caravan, the stars of contemporary Finnish folk sounds performing at the new Wine & Sapas venue, Sväng plus Lepistö & Lehti, and jazz great Timo Lassy presenting his saxophone-led trio in action at the same venue on Saturday.

The club program at Flow receives noteworthy additions in the lineup of the Nokia Lounge, to be situated next to the largest new Flow venue, Nokia Blue Tent. Acts performing at the Nokia Lounge feature the German star producer Motor City Drum Ensemble, Girl Unit from the UK, Spoek Mothambo from South Africa, and the Finnish hard-hitters Ionik, Yé Yé, Sharkslayer, plus the Top Billin collective.

The Flow Backyard gets additional heat from DJ Joakim Haugland from Norway's Smalltown Supersound label, the Finnish reggae heavyweights Komposti Sound System, and local DJ greats ODJ Harri, Vilunki, Kaukolampi and Tixa. Those visiting Flow's Champagne Bar will groove to DJs Poika & Hirviö, Esko Routamaa, Aromi, Käki and J-Laini, whereas The Black Tent lineup is completed with the addition of Toni Halo, Herman Prime and Katerina.

The early afternoon programming on Sunday is tailored to fit the tastes of the very youngest of music fans, as children from 0-6 years of age are free to attend Flow Festival with their parents. The Backyard program will feature children's music in both live bands and DJs between 2 pm and 6 pm.

Flow's three-day festival passes sold out in record breaking time

Most two-day combinations also reserved to capacity at the moment, the popularity of the Baltic Sea ticket a pleasant surprise

Flow Festival, organised this year for the eight time in Helsinki on August 12–14, has sold out its three-day festival passes. Combination tickets FRI+SAT and SAT+SUN are also all reserved at the outlets currently. This marks by far the earliest date Flow has sold out its weekend passes in the history of the event. Single day tickets and FRI+SUN combinations are still available at Tiketti outlets and in Helsinki at Stupido Shop. There is also a small quota of three-day passes available in the UK at See Tickets.

Another happy feature in the ticket sales in addition to the high demand has been the popularity of the Flow Festival Baltic Sea ticket. Roughly a quarter of all ticket buyers have decided to donate the additional 2 euros for work to be done for the preservation of the Baltic Sea. The Baltic Sea ticket, available with all ticket types, is presented in co-operation with Ben & Jerry's.

Flow Festival expects to draw a total of 48 000 visitors during its three days of operation.

The Australian Empire of the Sun joins the Flow line up as a fresh addition, after their triumphant spectacle of a performance at California's recent Coachella Festival. This is the first time as their futuristic electro-rock show is seen in Finland.

Other new additions are the Spanish indie-electro artist El Guincho, the New York DJ legend Danny Krivit, and the residents of Berlin's famed Berghain club Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann plus Shed Live, each of whom perform as part of the the new Voimala club Sunday afternoon series. New Finnish acts in the program are Regina and Yona & Orkesteri Liikkuvat Pilvet, both of whom are set to showcase their new material at Flow.

The sales of the Flow Festival tickets have remained busiest to date for all ticket types.
