| Tuska Open Air Tuska Open Air Metal Festival, shortly Tuska (Finnish: pain, agony), is the largest music festival dedicated only to metal and related styles of music in the Nordic countries. The history of Tuska began in 1998 and it has grown larger every year. The location of the festival has been in Kaisaniemi park in the middle of Helsinki, Finland from 2001. However, since Tuska 2011 has been at its new home, Suvilahti event field in Sörnäinen, Helsinki. This leads to a number of positive changes:
The main festival gate / entrance will be moved to next to the shopping center and metro station. Getting to the festival can’t get any easier, just get on the metro and hop off at Kalasatama station!
The entrance to the events at Suvilahti event field is usually located in south part of the area. For summer 2019 Tuska will flip the blueprint around. The route to Tuska will start from Redi and Kalasatama metro station, making the arrival to the festival grounds way more convenient and easier. The shopping center will be the site for several Tuska-related services: wristband exchange, event info, ticket sales point, art gallery, Tuska-store, bike- and carpark to name a few.
The new agelimit for the festival will be 18. This means that the entire festival grounds will be a bar area for the first time in the history of the festival.
