Gothenburg Sound Festival | FESTIVALPHOTO
Gothenburg Sound Festival Gothenburg Sound Festival is an event that is created to celebrate the metal music that hails from the city of Gothenburg. The foundation is the music that nowadays is called The Gothenburg Sound. This was founded by bands like At The Gates, Ceremonial Oath and Dark Tranquillity in the early 1990s and has now reached legendary status. But the festival is so much more than that. We want to celebrate the bands that are inspired by the Gothenburg scene and of course the Gothenburg music of today. Gothenburg Sound Festival takes place annually at Trädgårn in Gothenburg and the event is arranged by Triffid Productions, Strömblad Ekonomi, Highlitedesign and In Flames with support from Göteborg & Co. The first edition of the festival took place in January 2013 with bands like Ceremonial Oath, Gardenian, Nightrage and The Resistance performing, and the second edition in 2014 with the legendary At the Gates. 2015 proved to be another grand festival with the giants Dark Tranquillity, Evergrey, Mustasch and more. Two days of maximum music experience! http://gothenburgsound.com/ |

Not too long ago Evergrey was almost dead. Long live Evergrey. Long live the Gothenburg Sound.
Yes it’s true, one of the most original metal bands to come out of Sweden almost called it quits. It wasn’t a decision vocalist/guitarist Tom S. Englund had spent hours or weeks brooding over, but as time passed following the band’s ‘Glorious Collision’ album from 2011 he felt less and less inspired to continue. Perhaps it was the splintering of the band line-up in 2010 – which saw Henrik Danhage (guitars), Jonas Ekdahl (drums), and Jari Kainulainen (bass) leave on friendly terms – or maybe it was the business side of the music that had worn him down, but Englund had seriously considered throwing in the towel. Fate had other plans, however, and he found himself working alongside his former bandmates due to circumstances beyond his control. The end result of that unplanned collaboration, which was meant to be temporary, resulted in a re-energized Evergrey creating ‘Hymns For The Broken’, arguably the strongest album in the band’s 16 year career.
We’re proud and honored to have Evergrey playing in their hometown at Gothenburg Sound Festival.
In addition to Everygrey, old school female trashers Ice Age has been resurrected for 2015′s edition of Gothenburg Sound Festival.
