2009-05-03 15:20 - SWR XII - Day3

Apologies for the delay, but because this was the last day, it ended a litte bit later than usual and tiredness took hold of me. Since a more extensive review of the fest is going to be posted in the next days, this entry will be shorter:

- The day was hot as hell and inside the concert's tent you really don't wanna know.
- There was more people than the previous days.
- Due to the amount of headliners on this day, it was hard to choose what to see.
- Bands such as Origin, Urgehal , Sodom and Absu totally kicked ass.

2009-05-01 20:29 - SWR XII - Day2

Second day of the fest, hotter than the previous. What was not so hot were the changes in the schedule and bands lineup, like Absu, who were moved for tomorrow.

There were 3 surprise visits this fest.
1st - The Belgium Christophe Szpajdel, creator of band's logos like Emperor and Enthroned.
2nd - António Freitas. A portuguese radialist and tv personality that promotes heavy metal in these media.
3rd - The police, who came with 4 police cars, dogs and shotguns. The reason is not yet clear, but after 1 hour everything was like nothing happened.

Through the day some of the bands which caught my attention were: Portuguese Black Metal band Corpus Christii, Blacklodge, with their Industrial Black Metal, thrashers Evile from UK and The Haunted, who were the most awaited band of the night.

2009-04-30 20:21 - SWR - Day 1

Today was the start of the most awaited Portuguese Metalfest: Steel Warriors Rebellion, now in its 12th edition. The first impression is a better space management and more crowded than last edition.

It was a cold night, but did not rain like the last year and we could find more places where to buy food.
Since it is the first day Metalheads were happy and with the batteries fully charged.
Let's hope it stays that way until the end of the fest!

Main bands today were Dornenreich, Unmerciful and obviously Akercocke.

Another "band" that surprised everybody was Insidious Discrepancy. A one-man band that puts to shame other so called Technical Brutal Death bands, while still making us laugh with the longest composition titles ever.
