Amon Amarth approaches a melodic death metal where the predominant theme of the songs is Norse mythology. Even if some refer to the band's musical style as Viking metal, Johan Hegg has repeatedly stated that Amon Amarth, although influenced by the Viking culture and the pre-Christian period of the Scandinavian Peninsula, the musical genre approached is melodic death metal.

At the moment, Amon Amarth has 12 released studio materials, discs that entered dozens of charts around the world, including the US Billboard or the UK Top Charts. The most recent album, "The Great Heathen Army" was released last year. For this, the band collaborated with Biff Byford of Saxon, and the album was produced and mastered by Andy Senap of Judas Priest.
