Interview with Jill Janus from Huntress.
Huntress was formed in 2009, and since then they have toured all over.
With three albums released between 2009 - 2015 the band has skyrocketed to the top, the albums are called: "Spell Eater", "Starbound Beast" and "Static".
On the album "Starbound Beast" they have a song called "I Want to Fuck You to Death" who is co-writen by Lemmy Kilmister.
Now they are planning a new album and tours, you will read about that and more in this exclusive with the vocalist Jill Janus.
It´s high time to release the pagan pussy of doom.
How is things in the "Huntress Camp" today?
We're working on the fourth album and preparing a headlining tour for this fall in North America.
That sounds promising for the future, and the band has risen fast as an metal act, tell me/us a bit of that the journey.
It's been crazy!
We have toured relentlessly, so many opportunities.
We needed to take a small break after the third album "Static" because it was insanity.
Such a fast pace, three albums written in three years.
Now we are ready to slay again.
I can just imagine the hell of a ride you been through, your albums are released in 2012, 2013 and 2015... thats pretty fast... tell us about the work behind those records and thoughts as themes behind em.
We visualize all of our albums, Blake Meahl (guitarist) and I don't compromise.
I wanted a trilogy, a tribute to witchcraft - the Maiden, Mother and Crone.
Now it's complete, I look forward to the next era of Huntress.
I for one is looking forward to the future with you, and the song "Terror" on the "Spell Eater" album is about a school attack I guess if I have interpreted the lyrics correctly?
Absolutely.
Instead of murdering my school mates, I fantasized about it and wrote a song.
High school was a nightmare.
I have no regrets when I say they could all die and I'd be thankful.
The most evil comes from teenagers.
Glad that you now have risen from the ashes and I know the story, you did an interview with Revolvermag when you bravely talked about your lifelong battle with mental illness and recent cancer diagnosis.
How you feeling today and how is it for your band mates to work with a person with those mental illness?
It was not easy for anyone when we began this journey.
Recording was weird, but touring was a whole new level of scary.
I focus on creating music, yet I battle with bipolar disorder every day.
My band mates have been very supportive.
We've accomplished so much, I couldn't have done it without them.
Good to hear, and now I gonna cut to the chase.
Are you dating Blake Meahl (guitarist) and can you tell us more about that story?
We prefer to keep that private.
But I will say Huntress was birthed from our love.
Kali wrapped her many arms around me and destroyed everything I have worked for.
From destruction comes an even stronger purpose.
Huntress album four is a new era.
I've already created and delivered a trilogy, rapidly.
Now I give you destruction and beauty with the next album.
Think Dissection meets Scorpions (Uli Roth-era).
With that theme I was hoping you would mention Dissection, but when can we expect that album?
Realistically, late 2017.
Wish times flys by then, and do you have any Sweden/Europe tour dates coming up in a near future?
Depends on tour support from our record label or a killer support slot from a bigger band.
Yeah, we'll tour there again.
Typically fans don't understand how expensive touring is.
We ain't Rihanna.
We're a virtually unknown metal band.
The Huntress (real name Helena Rosa Bertinelli) is a fictional character in the DC Universe, any parallels to your band name?
If so, tell us more about it!
No, Absolutely not.
It's a tribute to the Goddess of the Hunt, Artemis also known as Diana.
Witchcraft always.
Pagan for life.
Glad you can shed some light on that, I been woundering about it since I first heard your name.
Anything else you wanna add?
Watch the Huntress video "Sorrow" it's the most incredible mini-film we have made!
I love that and all your other videos too, conclude with some words to our readers.
The vultures can wait.
Just like the bonus song on your latest album "Static".
Thanks again for doing this interview, hope to see you in the future.
