Reckless love - Spirit

 Betyg

Review3018_reckless_love_-_spirit

Flamboyant Finnish rockers Reckless Love are back with their new album, Spirit. They've described their music in the past as "Merry metal", which certainly seems like a good description as there is a definite sense of fun in their music. Despite the fact that they wear makeup and have big 80s style hair, don't make the mistake of thinking they are all about the image - they have what it takes musically too.

Brief comments on a couple of tracks..

"I love heavy metal" is a great song, particularly if you listen to the lyrics. They've included lyric fragments from a whole host of bands/songs, and it's quite fun to spot them.

"Metal Ass" - a heavier song than normal but that Reckless Love sense of humour definitely shows through - how many bands could release a song with a title like that?

"So happy I could die" is another great song and is the latest song to be released as a video (watch the video below).

As you listen to the album there are several bits that strike you. Firstly the music is polished and commercial so should do well. At the same time though you notice how good they are - there's plenty of great guitar work here for instance. Reckless love certainly arent to everyones taste, in the same way that the 80s hair metal bands divided opinion, but if you liked those big 80s bands - Poison, Ratt, Bon Jovi etc then Reckless love should appeal. A great record.

The band will be touring the UK in October and are well worth seeing live.
