2010-07-10 15:20 - Bach sang Happy Birthday to Dio

As the title says, the concert of Sebastian Bach here at Norway Rock had a really touching moment when he told us he found out it would have been Dio's birthday today so he got the crowd to sing happy birthday for him. He also admitted he has Norwegian ancestors from Elverum, so it really made the crowd proud.

2010-07-10 15:16 - Booze, Broads and Beelzebub

Chrome Division played up til few minutes ago on the small stage and I can't imagine the pain I am going to have tomorrow in my neck from head banging like crazy on their cool rock'n'roll rhythms, including a cover of Rebel Yell.

2010-07-10 08:28 - Epica brings symphonic metal on main stage

Good voice for Simmone Simons live and incredilbe head banging skills from the guitarists, singer and keyboardist. A nice show to watch and sweet music to listen to.

2010-07-10 06:36 - Last day starting to get heavy

Lots of sun up in the sky, plenty of people bathing and slowly moving their steps towards the festival arena. Musically, the day started with Smooth Criminals int he small tent but there was absolutely nobody between them and the sound tower. They play various covers. Main stage is slowly waking us up, first with good old metal from Anvil and as I write, the sound of melodic death metal of Devil driver pours from the speakers.

2010-07-09 14:37 - Queensrÿche opens up for Gary Moore

Before the last show of the day of the old guitar legend Gary Moore, we're listening to another legend on the main stage: Queensrÿche. Cozy and soft mix of progressive and heavy metal and happy to see more of the crowd gathered for the show. Til tomorrow, tye tye!

2010-07-09 13:06 - Harley for free

The guys from Harley Davidson are giving away 2 Harleys as prize to those who pass by their tent and answer a question. One has been given today to a lucky dude from Arendal. That's quite a prize to leave with from a festival.

2010-07-09 10:52 - Norway Rock had just been Enslaved

Cool guitar riffs, even cooler drumming and voice, all backed but mean faces and pleasant harmonies at the keys. That was Enslaved for one hour on the main stage of Norway rock. A bit disappointing as the crowd hardly managed to relocate from their tents so it was rather empty in front of the stage.

2010-07-09 07:27 - one more amazing voice

I am talking about Tony Harnell. He just blew us off with a super ballad about Northern lights and only accompanied by acoustic guitars. That was so cool.

2010-07-09 04:11 - Sun - finally

For day 3 at Norway Rock festival we're happy to see the sun up in the sky and have it dry the wet clothes. Good occasion for a bath in the river/lake that goes right by the area.

2010-07-09 03:30 - Day 2 over@Norway Rock

After the blackest music of the day delivered by Immortal, the main stage was 'set on fire' by Kamelot's awesome show with nice costumes and lots of pyro effects. And good music on top of it all.
The night ended in style with Slash's solos and Myles Kennedy's great voice. Old Guns'n'roses songs were performed even better than the original. And that's not just my opinion.
Don't forget to keep an eye on the huge amount of cool photos uploaded by my colleague, Ståle: http://festivalphoto.net/index.php?page=2&festivalID=772

2010-07-08 12:23 - Immortal live

As I type these, the drums from Immortal seem to take down the buildings around the stage. White face paint with black eyes on the two singers and many crazy fans in the audience. I'm off to enjoy the rest of the show!

2010-07-08 08:38 - Amon Amarth - Swedes delivering viking metal in Norway

A tad early for having too much crowd in front of the stage, but good enough for the fans who enjoy their music to come in front of the stage with viking caps and swords and headbang like crazy on the rhythms of Amon Amarth's melodic metal. Impressive voice from the singer and an energic performance to rock the beginning of the afternoon.

2010-07-08 05:53 - Day 1@Kvinesdal

surprise of the day - moshpits are not allowed. Guards are quite strict and stop any attempt and throw people out if they start a pit.
But besides that and the annoying heavy rain that is quite painful when you try to take photos (or when you're dead drunk and the only way is down) there was good music on the main scene and one incendiary concert of a local band, Ingenting, in the small tent.
Airbourne was absolutely crazy, awesome and entertaining followed by more slow and boring shows from Saxon and Megadeth. By boring, I mean less energy on stage. But it was all paid back by the crazy guys from Twisted fuckin' sisters, making the end of the night very loud and mad.

2010-07-07 06:32 - Day 0

Hei alle sammen fra Kvinesdal!

First festival I personally see camping places numbered and you have to book a certain number in advance. that's quite a cool system.
Tuesday evening it was rather empty in the camping, only few people having had shown up. But many seem to know each other from previous years and having more or less the same place. So fun to see the joy of their meetings.
Now, before the festival is about to kick in with Rammsund - a Rammstein cover band that plays in Ny Norsk language - the rain has started and it's all a bit gray. But good mood hasn't left us so stay tuned for other updates.
